Teen Space Usage Policy
The City of Commerce Public Library’s Teen Space is an area where library patrons can read, study, do homework, work on school projects, and do other library appropriate activities. In order to keep the Teen Space open to all teen users we ask that all patrons utilizing the teen space area follow the Library’s Code of Conduct.
Seating in the Teen Space is reserved for patrons ages 12-18. If you do not appear to be 12-18 years of age, you may be asked to move to another area of the library during times when school is not in session.
Teen Space Guidelines
- Be respectful and kind to one another and of others' belongings.
- Keep your hands to yourself: no rough-housing, no running, no pushing, and no inappropriate public displays of affection.
- Verbal or physical abuse of staff or patrons such as cursing, rude or demeaning comments, and talking back to library staff.
- Take pride in your space: clean up after yourself and others. Use furniture for its intended purpose ~ no sitting on tables or standing on chairs
- Any behavior considered aggressive and inappropriate by the staff may result in the police being notified and further action may be taken.
- Vandalism, theft or damage of library property is a legal matter and the police will be notified.
- Unless offered as part of a library program, food is not permitted in the Teen Room. Securely covered drinks are permitted.
Teens in violation of the Teen Space Policy or the Library’s Code of Conduct and Responsibilities will be given a warning. Extreme behavior or repeated violations may result in the loss of library privileges and the teen may be required to be accompanied by an adult when on library premises.
